This is a difficult question to answer not only because I had no clue how Canadian politics worked until last month, but also because there are so many massive, complex issues that its hard to get a sense of a how my beliefs compare to a party's. However, in a flash of what can only be described as pure genius I discovered an online quiz that gave me an answer, quick and easy.
Results were:
60% Liberal, agreed on controversies such as: electric transportation, environmental regulations on businesses, subsidization for building of 1.4 million new homes
47% Green, agreed on controversies such as: electric transportation, environmental regulations on businesses, subsidization for building of 1.4 million new homes
46% Conservative, agreed on controversies such as: minimum voting age being lowered, decreasing foreign aid spending, use of nuclear energy
42% NDP, agreed on controversies such as: electric transportation, environmental regulations on businesses, subsidization for building of 1.4 million new homes
The quiz was convenient yet didn't miss out on educating me
For example,
more left leaning political figures agree on the need for more student loan forgiveness, safe havens for drug users, decriminalization of drugs, and subsidization of homeowners earning a salary of less than $120k.
right leaners took an opposite stance, disagreeing with all the statements.
That isn't to say that they are completely polarized in all respects, however, because there were some topics where their collectiveness tapered.
I think this was a learning experience for me because I could see the actual variance in opinion myself rather than only having the knowledge of what we were told in class that is easy to fade away from memory.
